Your Indoor Air Quality Could Be a Problem
Household dust can contain mites, mold, mildew, pollen and animal dander
Air Duct Cleaning
You may not realize how the ductwork in your home can affect your health. Dust, mold, animal or insect droppings and pet dander are just a few of the contaminants that can build up in your ventilation system and impact the air quality. To keep the air in your home safe to breathe, contact us to schedule a residential air duct cleaning.
Impacts of Poor Air Quality
Many factors can impact air quality. Chemicals used around the house, indoor pets, smoking, an infestation of rodents or insects, pollen and dust can all be found inside your vents. If there is high humidity, mold and mildew can form, causing a near-solid mass of debris in your ductwork. Each time the air blows across these contaminants, it picks up small amounts of the allergens and irritants and sends them into your home through the vents.
If you have small children, elderly family members or anyone with asthma or impaired immune systems, you'll want to be vigilant about the quality of air in your home. The contaminants can not only cause allergies, but they can trigger asthma attacks and can exacerbate other conditions.
Signs It Is Time to Have Your Air Ducts Cleaned
Ductwork needs to be cleaned periodically, whether in your home or office. Some indicators you may need to have air ducts cleaning in your building are:
- There is an unpleasant odor that you can't identify no matter how much you clean.
- The occupants have an unusually high incidence of allergies, asthma or other respiratory symptoms.
- The registers and vent covers have visible dirt, dust, mold or mildew.
- Airflow seems inconsistent between rooms.
- You can hear noises in your vents.
- Your home or office is unusually dusty no matter how often you clean.
If you, your employees or your customers are experiencing any of these indicators of buildup or contamination in the ventilation system, call us to schedule a commercial air duct cleaning.
What to Expect When We Arrive
When you call MidState Heating and Air for air duct cleaning, our technicians will perform a video inspection of your ductwork to make sure cleaning is warranted. We not only look for possible contaminants or blockages in your ductwork, but we also check for air leakages due to poorly sealed joints or junctions. Anything that might affect the comfort of your home and the efficiency of your HVAC will be investigated and discussed with you before we being cleaning.
Once we have agreed that cleaning is needed, our experienced team will start by removing all the registers and vent covers throughout your home or office. They will feed a hose with a rotating brush head on one end through your vents to scrub your ducts clean. Once your ventilations system is cleared of debris and thoroughly cleaned, the technicians will spray a pleasantly scented EPA recommended antimicrobial mist inside the ductwork to prevent any microorganism growth.
